Feeling happy and cheerful
According to the Jantje Beton study, eight out of ten children say they feel happy and cheerful after playing outdoors, which underlines the importance of these activities for emotional well-being. Outdoor play provides a space where children can release energy, interact with others and express themselves freely, away from the constraints of screens and structured environments. In addition, children rate outdoor play with a score of 7.9, which shows how much they enjoy these activities and the important role playgrounds play in their lives.
Parents also recognise the crucial importance of outdoor play, rating it an impressive 8.8 out of 10 in terms of its value for their children's development. They understand that outdoor play goes beyond fun – it supports physical health, cognitive development and social-emotional growth. For parents, playgrounds offer a safe space where children can make friends, build resilience and stay active, while having the freedom to explore and grow.
