Beautiful, but time-consuming to assemble
A very beautiful and high-quality sandbox. However, the assembly is very tedious and requires some manual skill, there is nothing pre-drilled.

Nice sandpit for one child
Stable sandpit, easy to assemble. We are very happy that our son has a nice space to play outside now but in our opinion this size is only enough for an only child.

Solid spruce and pine wood from Europe give our playground equipment its individual character. As a sustainable material, they offer a natural look and are particularly durable outdoors. We place special emphasis on the responsible use and quality of our wood to ensure that your children can play safely.

Wood from Europe Wood from Europe

Wood from Europe

  • Most of our wood comes from domestic forests in southeastern Germany.
  • For our playground equipment we use impregnated pine or spruce wood.
  • Wickey wood stands for exceptional durability outdoors.
Natural and sustainable cultivation

Natural and sustainable cultivation

  • We place special emphasis on the quality and responsible use of our wood.
  • Our wood grows slowly, which makes it harder and more durable.
  • The impregnation makes the wood more durable and is biologically safe for humans, animals and plants.
A living material with optimal fitting accuracy A living material with optimal fitting accuracy

A living material with optimal fitting accuracy

  • It is perfectly normal for the volume of the wood to change due to moisture absorption/drying.
  • Because of this, unpack your wood directly and let it dry for at least 2 days before assembly.
  • Subsequently, some wooden elements should be pre-drilled by yourself to ensure accuracy of fit and stability.
  • We recommend lightly sanding the edges created by the production process. Depending on the surface, choose sandpaper with a rougher or finer grit - light sanding is sufficient.
TIP

In our assembly video, you will find many helpful tips for the assembly of your climbing frame!

Boiler-pressure impregnation

Boiler-pressure impregnation

  • Boiler pressure impregnation that protects against environmental factors increases the service life of your playground equipment.
  • The wood is therefore particularly easy to maintain, as no additional sanding and painting are required, saving you effort, time and money.
  • Due to the mixture of leaking resin and the ingredients of the pressure impregnation, greenish colouration may occur. This is completely harmless.
TIP

Immediately unpack the wood and allow it to dry for at least 2 days so that any moisture from the impregnation process is completely gone from the wood. This ensures optimal conditions for the next steps and the longevity of the wood.

Individual characteristics

Individual characteristics

  • Knots, grains and pith are part of the natural characteristics of wood.
  • Cracks with a length of up to ¼ of the sawn timber length and ¼ of the cross-section depth are statically harmless!
  • Drying cracks are permissible according to DIN 4074.
TIP

Are the wooden parts of your playground equipment showing cracks? Send us a photo via our contact form. Our technical staff will be happy to advise you.

Superficial colouring

Superficial colouring

  • Superficial white to greenish spots are harmless.
  • They are caused by leaking resin and the ingredients of pressure impregnation, which collect on the surface.
  • Their appearance will even out over time due to outdoor weathering.
TIP

Heavily affected areas can be lightly sanded!

TIP

Do you prefer things to be colourful? Choose a colour that is safe for children and the environment, certified according to DIN EN 71 Part 3.

Frequently asked questions

minus-circle plus-circle How do I send back an item?

If the goods to be returned are forwarding goods, we will coordinate a pick-up date for the forwarding agent with you and assume the entire costs of the return.

If the parcels are smaller, however, we kindly ask you to return them to a parcel service provider of your choice yourself.

Tip: Always choose the same parcel service provider who was also responsible for the delivery of your goods. This is usually the cheapest option.

For a fast and smooth process we recommend you to use our return form. However, this procedure is not obligatory.

minus-circle plus-circle Where can I find the construction manual for assembling Wickey playground equipment?

Your assembly instructions will be sent along with your order in the enclosed screw bag. In the unlikely event that you do not receive your instructions, please use our contact form to get in touch with our customer services team. We will send them to you as quickly as possible.

minus-circle plus-circle How and when can I reach you?

You can reach us via contact form and via good old telephone.

You can reach us from Monday to Friday, between 8 am and 3 pm, at the following number:+44 (0)330 808 0240

Please note our information on our hotline hours.

minus-circle plus-circle Which couriers and parcel services does Wickey use to delivery playground equipment and accessories?

Since we supply almost all of Europe with our country-specific Wickey shops, we cooperate with a large number of forwarding agents. In the case of small deliveries, we collaborate with various parcel services.

minus-circle plus-circle Is it necessary to pre-drill the holes for the screws?

Once the wood of your climbing frame has dried, we recommend pre-drilling holes before screwing in the screws. This minimises the risk of cracks appearing. This also prevents the alloy of the screws from being damaged and helps to avoid premature rusting.

minus-circle plus-circle Which wood does Wickey use?

Impregnated Wickey wood made of pine or spruce is naturally and sustainably cultivated and is known for particular outdoor durability. It provides our products with a firm footing that ensures both fun and safety.

minus-circle plus-circle Can I have my order delivered to a packing station?

Unfortunately this is not possible. But you are welcome to choose a different delivery address, where someone you trust can kindly accept the delivery on your behalf.

minus-circle plus-circle Does Wickey offer express delivery?

Unfortunately, due to organisational reasons, this is not possible. Nonetheless, we try and get the items you have ordered to you as quickly as possible.

minus-circle plus-circle Can I also buy sand from Wickey?

You cannot purchase sand from Wickey. You can, however, find high-quality play sand for your kids in all well-stocked DIY stores.

minus-circle plus-circle Why doesn't the lid of the sandpit close completely?

The small gaps between the boards, or between the lid and the pit, prevent the formation of mould due to the build-up of moisture.

minus-circle plus-circle How can I prevent the formation of mould or fungus?

Our wood is pressure treated. With this process, a waterproofing agent is pumped into the wood at high pressure. This process protects the wood against decomposition, as well as repelling organisms whose presence could lead to the destruction of the wood.
You can actively prevent the formation of mould yourself by unpacking the wood immediately after receipt and storing it in a dry place (for at least 2 days) before assembly.
